Medication Management
Mental health care to help you live a happier, healthier, more balanced life.
At Sun Psychiatry Santa Barbara, we understand that mental health is multifaceted, and each individual’s journey is unique. Our approach is tailored to each patient, ensuring that you receive the most effective treatment for your specific needs.
The initial intake appointment will be 60 minutes, with an in-depth review of history, symptoms, and goals. Follow-up appointments for continued care will be 30 minutes to check in, manage doses and side effects, and evaluate effectiveness.
We focus on medication safety, ensuring that we check for interactions with any current medications and conditions. Our approach integrates psychiatric care with therapy and lifestyle improvement. We use an evidence-based approach in our practices, integrating research with clinical expertise, patient values, and a focus on shared decision making.
What We Treat
Depression is a common mental health condition that causes a persistent feeling of sadness and changes in how you think, sleep, eat and act. There are several different types. Depression is treatable — usually with talk therapy, medication or both. Seeking medical help as soon as you have symptoms is essential.
Anxiety disorders are a group of mental health conditions that cause intense, excessive and persistent worry or fear interfering with daily life. Occasional anxiety is normal, but persistent anxiety can be improved with treatment. Treatment is effective and usually includes medication and psychotherapy (talk therapy).
Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder (OCD) is a pattern of unwanted thoughts and fears (obsessions) that may lead to repetitive behaviors (compulsions). It can make everyday tasks hard. But with therapy, medication or both, many people find relief and regain control over their lives.
Post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD) is a common mental health condition that can develop after a traumatic event. It involves symptoms like flashbacks, anxiety, negative thoughts and beliefs, hypervigilance and more. Treatment for PTSD includes psychotherapy (talk therapy) and medication.
ADHD (attention-deficit/hyperactivity disorder) is a condition that affects how your brain works. Despite its name, ADHD doesn’t mean that you lack attention. It means that it’s harder for you to control your attention or direct it to certain tasks. ADHD causes symptoms like difficulty focusing, trouble sitting still and completing tasks, and impulsive behaviors.
A mood disorder is a mental health condition that primarily affects your emotional state. They can cause persistent and intense sadness, euphoria and/or anger, affecting your quality of life. Mood disorders are treatable — usually with a combination of medication and psychotherapy (talk therapy).
